Former President Donald Trump shared a video on Monday featuring a fabricated newspaper article suggesting a “unified Reich” if he wins the 2024 election. The video portrays a scenario post-Trump victory with headlines like “Economy Booms!” and “Border is closed,” resembling World War I-era news clippings. Mentioned in the video is the concept of a “unified Reich” alongside claims of deporting 15 million illegal aliens, linked to World War I dates.

The term “Reich” is historically linked to Nazi Germany under Adolf Hitler’s rule, known as the “Third Reich” from 1933 to 1945. The video was later removed from Trump’s Truth Social account on Tuesday.

A Trump campaign spokesperson, Karoline Leavitt, clarified that the video was not campaign-produced but reposted by a staffer inadvertently. President Joe Biden and his supporters swiftly condemned the video, labeling it as flagrant antisemitism. Biden criticized Trump’s language, highlighting past instances where Trump’s rhetoric drew parallels to Hitler’s language.

The White House spokesperson, Andrew Bates, denounced the video as “abhorrent, sickening, and disgraceful,” emphasizing the inappropriate association with Nazi Germany. The Biden campaign spokesperson, James Singer, accused Trump of intending to rule as a dictator over a “unified Reich” if he regains power.

Trump has faced criticism for previous antisemitic remarks and divisive language, drawing comparisons to Hitler. Despite pushback, Trump denied similarities to Hitler at a rally in December, claiming he had never read “Mein Kampf.” This evolving story continues to unfold with updates pending.
